How to use a Surface 3 as a drawing tablet for Mac (self.Surface) submitted 2 years ago by ProdoxGT So, im a developer (thus a Mac, Windows isn't good enough yet, and I kinda do like MacOS over windows, but I digress), and I tend to draw and design as a hobby. Two former Apple engineers have today launched, an app for Apple's iPad and Mac computer that turns the former into a drawing tablet for the latter and allows you to use applications such as Photoshop with more precision. The Astropad works with most styluses and its makers claim their system is being used by photographers not only for retouching and image editing, but is also useful for illustration, sketching and painting tasks. Astropad works via Wi-Fi or USB connections using the proprietary LIQUID technology. LIQUID allows for very smooth operation at 60 fps which is double the rate of Apple's own AirPlay technology. Astropad also claims the system delivers excellent image quality without any compression artifacts and colors that are true to the source material. Astropad supports all iPads with iOS 8 and all Macs with 10.9 (Mavericks) or a newer operating system. The iPad app can be downloaded free form the App Store and the Mac companion app can be purchased for $49.99 at. You can also embed your favorite on blogs, Facebook pages, and beyond and play on your own website. Tycoon games for mac free download. We keep the list updated with the latest and greatest! A $19.99 educational version is also available and you can make use of the 7 day trial before you hit the purchase button. Why would I waste my money on that crap. You have to lug a tablet and a mac, to use the freaked thing. The surface pro 2 gives me the BEST of both worlds and I love every second on this. The surface pro 2 has PhotoShop CS6 and illustrator CS6 And many other software installed that I love. And anything else I want on it. The pen may feel and look like crap. Wacom technology in it too. Seagate backup plus for mac software. My spouse can be driving and I can digital scrapbook at the same time, when he got to go the medical appointments, its great for sketching and art too. The iPad is overpriced junk, with very limited features. If you want a real tablet with no limit, go with surface pro, if you want a kid toy sick with the I crap. Ps I own a wacom 13hd tablet. Like to put it to use. But my surface pro gave me a sky with no limit. Princess Luna, meanwhile in the real world, you response contains precisely no useful information. It is for owners of imacs and ipads who now do not need to spend even more money on even more hardware. The Surface Pro is made and marketed by Microsoft and apart from propping up a near monolpoly, nothing microsoft has ever developed or built has been much good. Precisely because they were a monopoly. Like the look of this app, certainly seems well thought out and is inexpensive. Thanks Roger Circle for a decent review. I have used Wacom tablets for graphics/illustration work for decades. I've downloaded the free 7-day trial of Astropad and found the app to be quite useful with Photoshop and Painter. Where is quick analysis button. It happens with the 32-bit version, 64-bit version, Microsoft's Professional version, and Dell Branded OEM version. Everything above had been tried and we have even went as far as replacing the entire computer, re-installing the OS and Office 2013 fresh. It still crashes using the Quick Analysis tool for Totals and Tables. I appreciate the thought that has gone into it. The pinch to zoom and move features are well implemented and intuitive. My keyboard shortcuts for tool selection and brush size management are intact. I can rest my palm on the iPad while using the pressure sensitive stylus for more precise control. I can put the stylus right where I want it, because (unlike my graphics tablet) I can SEE my work beneath the tip of the stylus. ![]() I'll use this app in my work and enjoy benefits that heretofore have been priced out of reach for me. I'm sure pretty soon Apple will release a laptop with a touch screen, and maybe a pen like the Surface's. Most likely they will just copy the Surface. And then all the fanboys who have ridiculed those ideas will totally embrace them. You know, like they used to make fun of smaller tablets, larger phones and phablets. Until Apple copied all of that.and then it became absolutely great. Meanwhile they have to resort to clunky solutions like these, because a true Apple soldier would never EVER buy anything made by another company, least of all from Microsoft, the devil incarnate.;). Wow, I'm amazed by all the people dismissing this because 'it's not as good as Wacom'. As if they are all shareholders who feel their dividend is under attack. Okay, so a Wacom is much better. But this is not meant for people who have are torn between buying a Wacom or buying an iPad with this app. This is for people who already have an iPad, and maybe a Wacom as well. I do, but I don't carry my Wacom when I'm on the road. It stays at home, attached to the Mac Pro. But I have to edit images more and more while I'm away from home, for social media, but also because clients wants them asap. On the road, I have an 11' Macbook Air and an iPad Mini. With this app, they finally could work together, and I have no doubts it will beat using the trackpad on the Macbook for editing. Just an example: at the very bottom of this very comment section, 'EricCul' called even the Surface Pro 1 belonging to 'junkyard'. He obviously haven't ever handled a Wacom / nTrig device.
